Paired with the company's Vue panel monitor, it throttles charging in real time as your home's other loads rise and fall — which can make a 48A charger safe on a panel that would otherwise need a $2,000–$4,000 upgrade.
Even without the load-management pairing, the value is stark: 48A output, a 24-foot cable, outdoor rating, and Energy Star certification for roughly the price of competitors' 32A models. Both J1772 and NACS versions are available.
